The Illusion of Order: When 'Civilized' Means 'Sterilized'

I remember my first visit to the United States over a decade ago. Landing from my small, bustling hometown of Meerut, India, I was instantly awestruck. The silence, the systematic flow of traffic, the lack of honking—it was a world engineered for flawless human convenience. Everything was neat, clean, and in order . For nearly a year, I was hypnotized. I praised this country for its efficiency, its cleanliness, and, notably, its lack of stray animals . Where were the dogs, the cows, the insects that are a normal part of life back home? The US, I thought, was truly a superior model of civilization. My clothes never even collected dust; it seemed the entire landscape was sterilized. But as the years passed, the hypnosis began to fade. I started asking a darker question: What is the price of this perfect order? The Cost of the Empty Road My initial praise for the US was based on what I didn't see: no stray animals, no swarming insects, no dust. I realized this absence wasn't a s...

7 of 10 for Cafe 21 Restaurant at Shri Anandpur Sahib

Raise your hand if you don't like to eat out!

If anyone claims to be so, than it is certainly not true, for there wouldn't be so many restaurants coming up.

I don't remember a weekend when me and my wife had food at home!

Well, it is certainly nothing to be proud of, but this is how we are.

This past weekend we camped at Cafe 21 restaurant at Shri Anandpur Sahib to subside our hunger for diverse food.

After juggling through the menu we picked up two items, this is a drill in which 99% of the time I come first. I should say my wife come second, not the last, to avoid her from obvious shame!!

Anyways, we picked up a paneer grilled taco and veg. burger.

So after ordering the stuff it barely took 5 minutes for the first dish to arrive on our table. I would call this ETA to be under standard test conditions as there was none else dining at that time.

The first item to come on our table was the veg burger, and I must say that I liked how it was served.

I mean the plate was cute and sweet. I didn't asked my wife's opinion on this, but I am sure she will be in agreement, or else she must have said something.

The plate was in the shape of a pearl shell, I may be missing the exact term but this is some sea stuff.

The burger tasted good, the bun was not hot, the patty inside was appropriately hot and the dressing inside tasted good as well.

Most restaurants here heat about the bun as well as they prepare the burger, which I am sure is technically wrong.

I bet McDonald's would be highly disappointed when they see these local versions of the burgers!

I must add here that before coming to this restaurant I had already eaten chole bhature at Yadav at Shri Anandpur Sahib.

Well, to tell you a small tale, I wanted to have chole bhature but my wife to have something else.

So, my tummy was already full, still the food tasted good, even though I was not completely hungry.

The second item to arrive on the table was the paneer grilled taco, and here is how it was presented.

Nice, 10 on 10 for presentation, that plate though resembled some sea being, looks like the owner of the restaurant had a liking for sea creatures.

The black shell shaped plates, with paneer grilled taco wrapped in an aluminum foil. The whole arrangement was appealing to look at.

I was kind of bit disappointed with the taste though, as it was little bit sweet. Probably, the taco's are made this way, which is something not to my liking.

Anyways, I found a way out for this sweet tasting paneer grilled taco, that is, I squeezed some ketchup on the plate and sprinkled some seasoning on it.

When I had the taco with this arrangement it subsided the sweet tasting sauce that was used in it.

Thankfully, my wife did not had any complaint with the sweet taste of the taco, or else I would have to swallow the whole taco by myself.

Overall I would rate 7 of 10 for Cafe 21 restaurant at Shri Anandpur Sahib.

And this place is worth paying another visit.

The FAA Enhances Air Traffic Controller Training with New Program

Thousands of pilots across the globe enjoy their time in the air because there is someone on the ground that is keeping them separate from one-another and preventing them from colliding. The importance of Air Traffic Controllers will forever be there in aviation as long as man wants to travel by air. As the air traffic is increasing there is a growing need for rigorous training to ensure the safety and efficiency of anything that is moving in the air and on the ground in an aviation setting. Addressing the growing demand of the aviation industry.  The Federation Aviation Administration (FAA) recognises their importance as well, and have designed the best training for them. One of the premiere agencies in aviation, the FAA, and the best known private training academy, the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University have collaborated to start the Enhanced Air Traffic-Collegiate Training Initiative ( AT-CTI ). The Importance of Enhanced AT-CTI Training There has been a surge in air travel in...

The Role of Air Traffic Controller in the Cirrus Tragedy at William P. Hobby Airport

Just now I saw a video that was uploaded by Air Safety Institute. I feel sorry for the three people who died in that tragedy, particularly feeling sorry for the female pilot who was at complete peace and calm till the last moments even though she was burdened by air traffic controllers with frequent instructions throwing her all around at the airport. The elaboration detailed by the Air Safety Institute mostly blaming the pilot for the tragedy forced me to write this article. We may agree that in most cases we blame the pilot for any incident or accident. The elaboration given by ASI is quite sorted, but the thing I didn’t like in here is that the first culprit here is found to be the private pilot who had minimal amount of flying experience. It is easy to blame the pilot for not being alive to fight for her case and everyone else involved in the tragedy, particularly the ATC who want to save their jobs and reputation.  What I didn’t like was the cirrus private pilot was as...

Unseen Scars of COVID-19 that Shaped my Life

COVID-19 has not only uprooted economies, but also destroyed individuals both financially and healthwise. My daily routine was brought to a standstill during the second wave of the pandemic, as the notorious disease caught me. But even as the symptoms subsided, the lingering effect of the virus has been disrupting my life. Here I talk about my journey that went through the post-covid recovery and how it reshaped my thinking of health both mentally and physically. After being a victim of corona a lot of things have changed in my body and in my thoughts. I was still working in a college near Chandigarh, when, one early morning while riding towards my work I felt that something was just not right with me. By the time I reached the hostel room of the college, I was just not feeling the energy to move ahead. This happened during the second wave of the pandemic. Private colleges had partially opened and they had allowed some essential staff to stay within the hostel and look after dail...
